Standards for Intergroup/Group Web Pages
To be Linked from the SAA Web Page

Ownership

1. The site must be under the supervision of an Intergroup or Group currently registered with ISO of SAA, Inc.. The page cannot be the undertaking of an individual, whether SAA member or not, who has no supervision or accountability.

2. The site must have it's own domain name and cannot be a subdirectory of another web page. For example: www.yahoo.com/~bobD/SAA is not acceptable. The domain name must be registered in the name of the Intergroup or Group that supervises the site. (For information on how to register a domain name, contact the SAA Webmaster.)

Content

1. The primary purpose of the site should be to serve and support the Group(s) and Members of the supervising site and to reach out to the local addict who still suffers.

2. The page itself should not have advertisements for or links to any commercial enterprise. For example: Links or references to a company that designed the site or pop-up advertising are not acceptable. Exceptions to this rule must receive written approval from SAA. Contact the Office Manager.

3. If a link is used to another page not run by SAA, then a buffer page must inserted. To see an example click on the link to COSA on the "Other S-Group" SAA page, saa-recovery.links.htm. You get a short page with a link to the COSA page and a disclaimer that reads:

Codependents of Sexual Addiction (COSA) is an organization separate from Sex Addicts Anonymous. SAA does not endorse, finance, or lend the SAA name to COSA or other outside enterprises. This reference to the COSA homepage is provided only as a service to SAA members and visitors.

4. If the site contains a list of meetings, the list shall include only meetings that conform to the requirements of an SAA meeting, which includes " is an SAA group as defined in Article II, Section 1b of the ISO of SAA, Inc., By-laws which define an SAA member group as one that follows the 12 Steps and 12 Traditions of SAA." And "adheres to the Sixth Tradition of SAA by not being affiliated with an related facility or outside enterprise."

5. References to other "S" groups and other recovery groups should be limited to announcements of and reports on joint events.

6. Material copied from the SAA website cannot be altered and must be accredited to the IS0 of SAA website.

7. Do not publish information that is not for public consumption. There must be no references to ISO of SAA events, such as the SAA Annual Convention, without written permission of the ISO of SAA, Inc.

Disclaimers and Copyright Notices

1. Wherever non-SAA approved material is used a disclaimer must follow stating that the views are of the author (or group) and may or may not reflect those of SAA as a whole. This requirement doesn't apply titles, headings, announcements or reviews of events, just subjects that present a viewpoint rather than uncontestable facts.

2. All excerpts from copyrighted material must cite the copyrighted source. All reproductions of copyrighted material in its entirety must be with the permission of the copyright holder and annotated accordingly following the material.

 

Use of ISO of SAA Trademarks

1. In regard to the ISO of SAA's registered trademarks, the local website must comply with the ISO policy on local websites.

Obtaining the Link

  1. The page must be operational before requesting the link.
  2. Write or e-mail the SAA Office, info@saa-recovery.org, with a request to link to the page. Include the following information:
    1. The name of the registered Intergroup or Group that owns the page,
    2. The URL of the home page to be linked, and
    3. A list of Meetings and/or Intergroup entries to receive the link in the on-line Meeting List. (All pages to contain the link must have a Website Information Form on file at the SAA Office even if no data, other than the link is to be posted.)
  1. The SAA Office Manager and Webmaster will both review the proposed Web site for conformance to the requirements in this document. If they believe the site does not meet the requirements, they will reject the request for the link.
  2. If the applicants are unable to resolve the problem with the Office Manager and Webmaster, they may appeal the decision to the ISO of SAA, Inc., Board. The appeal will be put on the Board's agenda as New Business for its next meeting.

Removing the Link

1. A user may request that the link be removed.

2. If the site comes into non-conformance with these requirements the link will be removed after one attempt is made to contact the site's owner and resolve. The judgment of non-conformance is either made by the SAA Board or the concurrence of the following three people (or their delegated representative):

    1. The Office Manger,
    2. The SAA Webmaster, and
    3. The President of the SAA Board.
