The ISO Board of Trustees created by the Bylaws of the ISO of SAA as the body responsible for the legal, fiduciary, and operational functions of the ISO, including the hiring of an executive director, who is assigned responsibility for the internal operations of the ISO office.
Time Commitment
Trustees make a major commitment to ISO service, as illustrated by the following list of obligations:
• Face-to-face meeting of the Board (2.5 days) and attendance at the annual meeting of the ISO Conference (2 days).
• Monthly meeting of the Board by videoconference (1-2 hours per month).
• Monthly meetings of ISCs and other committees, subcommittees, or work groups (2-4 hours per month)
• Preparation for Board and committee meetings (2-5 hours per month),
• Informal discussions and special work group assignments (2-4 hours a month)
Total time commitment is between 7-15 hours a month, plus 4.5 days at the conference
The ISO Literature Committee (LitCom) is established in the Bylaws of the ISO of SAA as the body given “supervisory authority over the content of all ISO publications,” including audio recordings and the ISO websites.
This primarily involves the review, editing, and approval of material to be published by the ISO in any medium. In addition, the Literature Committee tracks the needs of the fellowship for new pieces and reviews previously approved publications to ensure that they are up-to-date and free from errors.
Time Commitment
Monthly meeting of the LitCom by videoconference (1-2 hours per month). [Second Sunday of each month at 1:00 pm CT.]
Face-to-face meeting of LitCom for two days in advance of the annual meeting of the ISO Conference (2 days + travel time). [This meeting may be hybrid, allowing members not attending the Conference meeting to participate.]
Monthly meetings of subcommittees or work groups (2-4 hours per month). [Day and time are set by each subcommittee or workgroup.]
Offline editing and prep for meetings (2-6 hours per month).
Informal discussions and special work group assignments (2-4 hours a month).
Total time commitment is typically seven to sixteen hours a month, plus the two days prior to the Conference meeting.
The Conference Steering Committee (CSC) was created in 2015 to provide leadership and guidance for the Conference in support of the purpose of the Conference as outlined in the Conference Charter and to work with other components of the ISO on matters relating to the Conference between annual meetings. Initially it was composed of representatives from ISO regions; however, after 2021, the committee members are elected at-large by the Conference.
