At the 2019 annual meeting of the Conference of the SAA Fellowship, Motion 2019-D0002 was approved to accept the Area Alignment as proposed by the ACC. While this completed the initial aligning of groups into Areas, further changes are permitted through the process of Area Appeal. The process begins with the submission of an Area Appeal Form (below) completed by the group(s) requesting the change.
Additional information, such as group ID numbers, can be provided by the ISO Office. It is incumbent upon those requesting the change to provide documentation of agreement from each group affected by the proposed changes. This information will be forwarded with the appeal form to each member of the ACC using the ACC list serve no later than one week prior to the scheduled monthly teleconference of the ACC. To reach a timely decision on any appeal, it will be discussed by the ACC during the month in which it is received. Appeals must be received by May 1st in order to be considered for ratification at that year’s annual meeting.
Each ACC committee member will have the opportunity to offer input and discuss any appeal submitted to it for consideration. Respectfully, only voting members of the committee will offer their decision regarding the final disposition of the appeal after giving it thoughtful consideration. If the ACC agrees with the change, it will be included in a summary motion of all changes to the Alignment for ratification at the next annual meeting of the Conference.
If the ACC does not approve the appeal, the petitioning group(s) can submit a Motion to appeal the ACC’s decision to the Conference at its next annual meeting; motions need to be submitted no later than June 30th.
