What: Requesting new stories of recovery
Length: 2500 – 5000 words, on average
How: Submit your stories at https://saa-recovery.org/gbstories.
SAA needs new personal stories for the next edition of the Green Book. Most of the stories currently in The Green Book are twenty
or more years old. Personal experience changes with time. Current SAA members probably have stories that reflect deeper recovery and
the fruits of long-term sobriety. The internet has also caused many new developments in our experiences of addiction.
This is an opportunity to share your story with the fellowship in our basic text. Stories help us identify as sex addicts; they inspire us in
our recovery; and they carry the message in a personal way.
A recovery story typically relates “what it was like, what happened, and what it’s like now.” It is not enough to only tell stories about
acting out. We need members to also offer their experiences in recovery: how the Steps have affected their lives, details of how they
work the program, accounts of groups, sponsorship, and service.
Please include any insights gained from living the program. You don’t need to be a writer to tell your story. All you need is to
honestly share your experience, strength, and hope. Don’t worry about spelling, grammar, or style. The proofreading and editing will
not change your voice or your message. Thank you for carrying the message of recovery.
